SouthLight Healthcare is a non-profit organization providing top quality care for substance use and mental health disorders as vital components of whole person care in the communities we serve. We have proudly served the Triangle area and beyond since 1970.

We are seeking a full-time, fully licensed LCSW to join our growing team.


This position is primarily responsible for conducting outpatient therapy for commercially insured clients.  This position will also conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for new and returning clients, ensuring that the required documentation is completed and filed correctly and timely. Clinician may also carry a small caseload for outpatient therapy at our other locations as case load grows.





  • Provide screening, assessment and evaluations in a professional and engaging manner. Complete all documentation at time of service.  Present information to the treatment team in a clear and concise format, that facilitates recommended level of care and need for treatment.
  • Provide evidence based, outpatient therapy for commercially insured clients at our Barrett Drive location who are engaged in medication management, office based opioid treatment, or stand-alone therapy, and all documentation.
  • For each client assigned, provide orientation to treatment that includes goal statement, schedule of services, confidentiality, client rights, consent for services and financial requirements.
  • Participate in Clinical Supervision and Treatment Team meetings.



  • Represent SouthLight at community functions as needed.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to provide clinical coverage, including coverage for the First Responder phone.
  • Participate as needed, in the supervision of interns and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain privileging and credentialing requirements and pursue professional development opportunities as appropriate.



Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Experience doing comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Experience in evidence based clinical treatment



  • LCSW


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • 12 Core Functions
  • Familiarity with the DSM-V for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
  • Working knowledge of systems theory and/or other counseling theories and substance abuse treatment.
  • Solid understanding of the symptoms and nature of alcohol and drug addiction and withdrawal.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a wide variety of constituents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledgeable of service definitions
  • Knowledgeable of Electronic Medical Records
