Founded in 1970, SouthLight Healthcare is a premier provider of Substance Abuse treatment for the Triangle area and beyond. As part of our commitment to providing holistic healthcare solutions for our clients, we offer integrated Mental Health treatment and Primary Care services, in addition to wrap-around services and linkages to community support. We are excited to be adding Family Centered Treatment (FCT) to our continuum of care and believe that delivering seamless behavioral and medical care promotes optimal wellness and increases the likelihood of sustained change.

POSITION SUMMARY

The FCT Counselor position is a unique position in many ways. It is both a team and individual position in which the individual provides clinical services within the Family Centered Treatment model to include: family therapy, individual therapy, and clinical assessments. FCT is a home/community based service, so the majority of interactions with families will be in their home or a variety of community locations as necessary and appropriate (schools, social services, probation offices, medical appointments, etc.). This positions hours are flexible and focused on meeting the needs of the families served vs. a set "traditional work day". Staff will provide structured, goal oriented and time limited FCT in the natural environment to families who need assistance recovering for a variety of issues surrounding substance abuse, mental illness, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. The FCT Counselor identifies resources and provides case support and management for clients; participates in clinical supervision and treatment team meetings on a weekly basis; pursues staff development opportunities such as continuing education to maintain or obtain licensure; continuously works towards FCT certification and meets established training milestones, and provides community outreach to increase and sustain caseload as needed. Lastly, the individual in the FCT Counselor position is expected to help families achieve goals and outcomes consistent with their values as well as expected outcomes defined in the FCT service definition. This position requires an ever evolving set of skills and approaches to ensure objectives are met from multiple perspectives.

 

Trauma Informed Practice

Staff will be deliver services in such a way that the clients/families feel respected, informed, connected, and hopeful regarding their own future. The staff must demonstrate an understanding, through the services provided, of the interrelation between trauma and symptoms of trauma (e.g., substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety). The provider will work in a collaborative way with child/family, extended family and friends, and other human services agencies in a manner that will empower child/family.

Culturally Competent Practice

Provider must respect the culture of the children and families with which it provides services. All staff persons providing services with the family must be aware of and sensitive to the client's cultural, ethnic, and linguistic differences. All staff also must be aware of and sensitive to the sexual and/or gender orientation of the child, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning clients.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific Duties:

* Provide therapeutic services to clients including:

o Crisis Response

o Assessment of needs

o Interventions

o Evaluation of problems and family functioning

o Monitoring of family/parental progress

o After-care linkage and/or recommendation to referent

* Development of short and long-term family goals with measurable outcomes in collaboration with the individual/family in services

* Attend and participate in Child & Family Team Meetings and provider meetings as requested.

* Attend weekly individual and/or group supervision.

* Provide thorough documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, monthly reports FCT fidelity documents and assessments. Submission of documentation should be submitted within required deadlines.

* The FCT Clinician will complete the self-guided Wheels of Change training course and make consistent progress toward achieving "FCT Certification" from the Family Centered Treatment Foundation (FCTF). In addition to the online-based training and required readings, the certification process requires Field Certification: the videotaped demonstration or direct field observation of competencies in the field with real clients.

* Once certified, the FCT Clinician will complete on-going activities necessary to maintain certification from FCTF.

* The FCT Clinician will provide Family Center Treatment to families and guide them through the four phases of treatment in a timely manner.

* Family Centered Treatment is a comprehensive treatment program that requires FCT Clinicians to make multi-hour sessions each week with all families.

* A FCT Clinician is expected to spend an average of 5 hours a week with each client family.

* All services (even individual services) are provided through the lens of child safety. As part of service provision, staff shall be proficient and assess the child safety concerns and protective factors that exist within the family.

* The FCT Clinician must be available to provide must provide intensive safety planning and crisis response services 24 hours a day/7days per week/365 days a year.

* FCT providers must adhere to State and Federal laws requiring the reporting of suspected abuse and neglect

* FCT providers must be dedicated to providing strengths based culturally competent services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Specific Requirements

* At least 21 years of age.

* Have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and continuous use of a reliable car.

Educational and Experience

* Minimum Master's degree in a Human Services field

* Meets the requirements specified for a QP status according to 10ANAC 27G.0104.

 

Licensure/Certifications

* Must maintain a professional license/provisional licensure status in an applicable field (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LCAS)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

* Ability to make vital crisis decisions on the job to effect change.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Effective written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to make independent judgments and decisions without supervisory direction.

* Ability to learn a variety of technological equipment and systems quickly and address problems quickly and efficiently to avoid lapse in communication with staff, families, or collaterals

 

Knowledge of:

* Family Systems Therapy and Family Preservations Model

* Wake County Resources

* Microsoft Office Suite

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Supervision Received

Supervision is crucial to this clinical position. Supervision is provided by both the FCT Supervisor & FCT colleagues in a weekly Peer Supervision mtg.

Supervision for licensure must be obtained independently
