Founded in 1970, SouthLight Healthcare is a community behavioral health provider for the Triangle area and beyond. As part of our commitment to providing holistic care for our clients, we offer integrated behavioral health treatment which includes case management and linkages to community support. We believe that delivering seamless behavioral and medical care promotes optimal wellness and increases the likelihood of sustained recovery.

We are currently seeking a high energy and passionate part-time, fully or provisionally Licensed Counselor or Qualified Professional for our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. Candidates should be available to work 20-24 hours per week, daytime.


Provides clinical services including group, family, and/or individual therapy, community support, and clinical evaluations for services; Maintains client records including treatment planning, psychosocial assessments, and progress notes; Responsible for completing authorizations for Wake County, Medicaid, and 3rd Party Billing in timely manner; Identifies resources and provides case support and management for clients; Participates in the collection of urine drug samples; Participates in clinical supervision and treatment team meetings on a weekly basis; Pursues staff development opportunities such as continuing education to maintain or obtain licensure; Participates in Outreach; Meets requirements specified for QP status according to 10ANCAC27G.0104.



Evaluation intakes, screens, assessments

* Provides screening, assessments (office and community), and evaluations in a professional and engaging manner, including the required information, organizing it for key personnel to suggest level of care for each client assigned, and clearly presenting the information to the treatment team. Completes the written documentation at the time of service.

* For each client assigned, provides an orientation that outlines a goal statement, explains and schedules services and clarifies the following: confidentiality, client rights, consents for services, and financial requirements.


Clinical Service groups, individual and family therapy, supportive counseling

* Establishes a therapeutic counseling relationship with each client assigned; facilitates individual, group, and family counseling.

* Identifies elements of client crisis, responds to each client needs to ensure their safety, integrates crisis experience into the treatment process for each client assigned.

* Provides client education by conducting alcohol and other drug education classes, conducting HIV/AIDS classes as assigned.

* Maintain Client Record including NCTOPPS; Discharge planning; Development, Monitoring and Revision of TX plan; typing and preparing clinical notes and psychosocial assessments; Travel as required to client's homes, Drug Court, and related meetings

* Coordinates treatment plan development and revisions.

* Identifies elements of client crisis, responds to each client needs to ensure their safety, integrates crisis experience into the treatment process for each client assigned.

* Documents progress notes for clients assigned within one working day of service, complies with information guidelines and signature requirements, maintains chart organization, and files in a timely manner.


Authorizations for Reimbursement Wake County, Medicaid, 3rd Party Insurance

* Monitors client fees to assure that the client is meeting his/her financial obligation to SouthLight.

* Provides for the business office documentation of services provided including event tickets, forms and group rosters within the time frame required by the division.


Urine Drug Screen Collection

* Willingly participates in the collection of urines as requested.

* Uses the results of urine test appropriately and as a therapeutic tool to determine the client's progress in treatment.

* Case Management case management functions to arrange, link monitor and integrate multiple services and referrals; off-site meetings with other professionals to coordinate treatment; referrals, both print and verbal; progress reports to probation officers, judges, lawyers, etc.; also includes Outreach and Drug Court

* Provides case support by identifying additional services needed for client care, coordinating and collaborating with relevant services, preparing and discussing discharge plan with each client assigned.

* For each client assigned, identifies appropriate referral resources, coordinates services with referral resources, and assists client with utilizing referral resources.

* Contacts all clients assigned who do not show for appointments.

* Pathways Only Convene child and family team for PCP development.


Job-related duties as assigned, for example:

* Demonstrates a willingness to provide clinic coverage as needed, including coverage for the First Responder phone.

* May be required to provide community support services, and if so, will complete the required 20 hours of training.

* Maintains a schedule approved by supervisor.

* Is reliable in work attendance, and follows SouthLight procedures when requesting planning or unplanned leave.


Continuing Education (e.g., In-service trainings, outside workshops)

* Pursues staff development opportunities to meet privileging and credentialing requirements, expand skills, and to obtain licensure or certification within 2 years of date of hire or to maintain certification or licensure.


SouthLight Staff and Business Meetings

* Regularly attends division team meetings. For clients assigned, provides appropriate and relevant information regarding client care to the treatment team.



Educational and Experience

* Minimum Master's degree in a Human Services field

* Meets the requirements specified for a QP status according to 10ANAC 27G.0104.

* Additional training requirements apply if providing NC State defined enhanced services; must be completed within 90 days of employment.



* Currently meets requirements as Qualified Professional

* Currently provisionally or fully licensed to practice clinically (LCAS, LCSW)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Excellent working knowledge of:
